This quarter, the Wildflower Reserve Subscription takes a rich, ruby-red turn with the release of Sloe Good It Hurts. Built on our Signature London Dry Gin and steeped with sloe berries, this gin is fruity, flirty and just the right amount of dangerous.
It takes the clean botanical structure of our classic gin and gives it a deeper, darker berry character. Juniper, coriander, angelica, lemon peel, cassia and cardamom provide the familiar Wildflower backbone, while the sloe berries bring notes of ripe plum, dark cherry and tart red fruit.
On the nose, Sloe Good It Hurts opens with a beautiful berry lift. Think dark cherry, soft plum and a little red fruit tang, balanced by the dry, botanical shape of the gin underneath. The lemon peel keeps things bright, while cassia and cardamom add a gentle warmth that makes it feel cosy without becoming heavy.
The first sip is juicy and rounded, with rich sloe berry character leading the way before settling into a smooth London Dry finish. There’s a lovely tartness through the palate, enough to give it a little bite, without tipping too far into sourness. The fruit brings the fun, while the gin keeps everything balanced, grown-up and very Wildflower.
The finish is long, soft and moreish, with lingering dark fruit, citrus peel, gentle spice and a dry juniper edge. It’s sweet, but not innocent. Tart, but not trouble. A little moody, a little cheeky, and dangerously easy to enjoy.
Sloe Good It Hurts is delicious neat over ice, lengthened with soda, or shaken into a Sloe Gin Sour for something silky, sharp and beautifully balanced.
